New NFL contract record, this Sunday, with the extension of Dak Prescott (QB) with the Cowboys. According to NFL media, the quarterback becomes the highest paid player in history with a four-year extension for 240 million dollars.
The deal includes $231 million guaranteed, according to ESPN, which is the most in league history. Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns was worth $230 million.
Prescott had one year left on his four-year, $160 million contract, signed in 2021. Both sides wanted to reach an agreement before the start of the season. That's now a done deal just hours before the Cowboys' season opener.
Dak Prescott a little more in the history of the Cowboys?
Prescott, 31, finished last season with 4,516 passing yards and 36 touchdowns. The three-time Pro Bowler is the third-leading passer in Cowboys history, behind Tony Romo and Troy Aikma. With 202 touchdown passes, he trails only Romo's 248 passing touchdowns.
With this new big contract, the Cowboys secure their future at the main position. And now it's up to Dak Prescott to take the Dallas franchise to the next level.
