Dallas Cowboys (3-3) – Detroit Lions (4-1): 9-47
In one of the shocks of the week, there was no game between the Cowboys and the Lions. Taking advantage of their week off, the Lions have obviously prepared well for this match. In attack, Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator of the Lions, delights with some very beautiful football, pleasant to follow for neutral spectators. More than the attack, it was also the defense that was in tune. 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, 2 fumbles caused and covered, Detroit had a game close to perfection. The only downside to this performance is Aidan Hutchinson's injury, which seems serious.
Opposite, at home, it was humiliation for Dallas, whistled by its public throughout the match. The Texan team records its 3rd home defeat in 3 games this season. Often under pressure, Dak Prescott produced his worst performance of the season, placed on the bench 13 minutes from the end of the match. The missing elements in defense do not excuse a poor overall performance which risks putting even more pressure on Mike McCarthy.
Lions who make the law
The first period is one-way. It's simple, each offensive series of the Lions gives points. Touchdown, field goal, touchdown, field goal, touchdown, for a total of 27 points, and a demonstration at all times. Dominant in the air and on the ground, the Cowboys' defense did not see the light of day, and the attack did little better.
The offensive game led by Mike McCarthy is too predictable. Dak Prescott (17/33, 178 yards, 2 INT) is not often on the same wavelength with his number 1 receiver CeeDee Lamb (7 REC, 89 yards). Thus, the Lions take advantage of their hesitations to make decisive plays. Former Alabama players Brian Branch with an interception, and Terrion Arnold on a good defense in the 4th attempt, are responsible for reminding us that it is not only the attack that can shine for the Lions.
262 yards run against 111, 14 first attempts won against 6, for a half-time score of 27 to 6. The figures are clear, clear and flawless in favor of the Lions. The whistles from the AT&T Stadium crowd against the Cowboys are deserved for a first period to forget for the home team.
Aidan Hutchinson injured, Dak Prescott's struggle
Detroit calms Dallas from the start of the second half. A touchdown from Jameson Williams (3 REC, 76 yards, TD) widens the gap. Dallas will not recover, and even the serious injury to Aidan Hutchinson on a successful sack changes nothing. On the contrary, his replacement Trevor Nowaske also sacks the Cowboys quarterback. The humiliation becomes total.
After the sacks and the interception, all that was missing was the fumble. Something done with Brian Branch (him again) who causes rookie Ryan Flournoy to lose the ball, and covered by… Terrion Arnold. The Lions safety is so in the oven and at the mill that he allows himself another interception, meaning the end of the match for a Dak Prescott in distress. His replacement Cooper Rush (8/11, 46 yards, INT) will also throw an interception. When nothing goes right…
The Lions want to involve everyone on offense, but unfortunately, there won't be something for everyone. After David Montgomery (12 races, 80 yards, 2 TDs), Sam Laporta (1 REC, 52 yards, TD) in addition to Jameson Williams, all that is missing is Jahmyr Gibbs (12 races, 3 REC, 91 yards) and Amon -Ra St.-Brown (4 REC, 37 yards, TD) to make the party complete. Finally, it is the receiver who is chosen by Jared Goff (18/25, 315 yards, 3 TDs) to close his festival. The quarterback will then give way to Hendon Hooker, for his first game in the NFL. The replacement quarterback will cause the only ball loss for the Lions attack 4 minutes from the end on a 4th failed attempt.
