Dallas Cowboys (10-3) – Philadelphia Eagles (10-3): 33-13
For the second week in a row, an NFC clash involving the Eagles ended in a correction. With once again Philadelphia in the position of the loser. Like against the 49ers, there was no game.
The Cowboys scored on their first four possessions to lead 24-6 at halftime. Returning from the locker room, the attack slowed down, settling for three additional field goals. Not a problem, since the Philadelphia attack never started.
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys on a stroll
A touchdown from CeeDee Lamb (6 rec, 71 yards, 1 TD) from the first offensive. A 60-yard field goal, then touchdowns for Rico Dowdle and Michael Gallup (3 rec, 48 yards, 1 TD). It's an understatement to say that Dallas had a successful start to the match. Dak Prescott (24/39, 271 yards, 2 TDs) did not have to be flamboyant. Simply very effective. He was well helped by Tony Pollard (16 races, 59 yards) and Dowdle (12 races, 46 yards, 1 TD) who kept the ground game alive.
Just days after an appendectomy, Mike McCarthy was not only on the sidelines, but he was effective in his play choices.
Philadelphia also set the tone from its first offensive, but in the wrong way, with a fumble by Jalen Hurts (18/27, 197 yards). Between inefficiency on third attempt or sack at the wrong time, the greens only snatched their points in the first half.
Brandon Aubrey, leg of steel
Fumbles will be the theme of the second part of the match. The Eagles how the third quarter with a new lost ball. Then it was Dak Prescott's turn to fumble the ball on a sack from Fletcher Cox. Jalen Carter appears, recovers the leather and goes to score. Philadelphia revives a little (24-13).
But Brandon Aubrey immediately reminds us that he is one of the heroes of the Dallas season. The 28-year-old rookie kicker scores from 59 yards (27-13). Then at 45 and 50 lengths, while the Eagles stall on fourth attempt then lose another fumble. Aubrey is at 30 successful kicks… out of 30. A record for an early career as an NFL kicker.
On offense, on defense, on special teams. The Cowboys dominated everywhere. Here they are at the top of the NFC East alongside Philadelphia. It is deserved.
