The Cowboys will have reinforcements. Ed Werder (WFAA) reports this Wednesday that DaRon Bland (CB) is activated from the injured list. In fact, he had been under “designated to return” status for three weeks. Dallas therefore had to make a decision today. Conversely, the Texans should have given up on their cornerback for the rest of the season.
Dallas was originally optimistic about Bland playing a few weeks early. However, he was still bothered by his right foot, on which he had surgery.
A welcome reinforcement for Dallas
DaRon Bland is an important player for the Cowboys. The fifth-round pick in the 2022 draft played 17 games last season. He had 69 tackles and 15 passes defended. At just 25 years old, he was the player who intercepted the most balls (9 times). He also set a record with 5 interceptions returned for a touchdown. In the penultimate year of his rookie contract, the former Fresno State player will surely be keen to prove that he deserves a long-term contract.
And DaRon Bland will not be too much for the Dallas defense. Even though they are only 21st in yards conceded in the air, the Cowboys have only intercepted 4 balls this season (22nd in the league). With a lackluster attack, a reinforcement such as Bland on defense could take some weight off the shoulders of Dak Prescott (QB) and his colleagues.
After their last defeat against San Francisco, Dallas is at 3 wins for 4 losses. In a fairly busy NFC East with the Eagles and Commanders having a good start to the season, DaRon Bland and his team will quickly have to get up to speed if they want to taste the playoffs again.
