Commanders: Jayden Daniels named starter

The rookie only had to wait a few weeks to become the new number 1 quarterback in the capital.

It was an expected move, and it finally came to fruition. According to ESPN, Dan Quinn has named Jayden Daniels as Washington's starting quarterback. Selected with the second overall pick in the last draft, the rookie takes the reins of the federal capital's attack.

It must be said that the Commanders' squad was formatted to accommodate this decision. Because it was not Marcus Mariota (injured), Jeff Driskel or Sam Hartman who had any real and serious chance of imposing themselves against the beginner who had already been installed at the controls of the first team for several weeks.

Successful preparation for Jayden Daniels

Above all, Jayden Daniels started the first two preseason games, a good indicator of the decision to come. And in these two games, he showed very good things, whether it was with the pass or with his legs.

In the two preseason games, Daniels threw 12 of 15 passes for 123 yards without a touchdown. He did, however, rush against the Jets.

In Week 1, the Commanders will travel to Tampa Bay to face Baker Mayfield's Buccaneers. Washington will face an experienced team looking to kick off the Daniels era in the best possible way.
