Commanders: Jack Del Rio takes the door

Jack Del Rio walks out the door. Defensive coordinator didn’t survive another poor defensive performance

A few hours after another defeat and a poor defensive performance, the Commanders fired Jack Del Rio.

The defensive coordinator had been on the job for four seasons in Washington. The coach was in charge of the worst team in terms of points conceded: 350 points, or 29.2 per match! Jack Del Rio is paying for his inability to take a defense and players on whom the franchise has relied heavily.

At 60 years old and after failures with the Jaguars and Raiders, his future is darkening in the NFL.

Washington also announced it had fired defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer.

On the Commanders side, Ron Rivera takes over the play calls on defense. Rivera is also in a tense position and he has just used his last joker before being put aside himself.
