Commanders – Giants (19-31): Sam Howell sinks, first for Tommy DeVito!

Washington Commanders (4-7) – New York Giants (3-8): 19-31

Breathtaking end to the match in Washington. Sam Howell (31/45, 255 yards, 1TD, 3INT) has 2 minutes to move up the field and put his Commanders in front of the score. Washington is then led 19 to 24.

The quarterback is intercepted for the first time, but sees the loss of the ball canceled for an opposing foul. After several successful throws, Howell was intercepted again. Isaiah Simmons intercepts and goes back 54 yards to score the touchdown. New York then leads 31 to 19, game over.

A deserved victory for the Giants who caused 6 turnovers (3 interceptions, 3 fumbles) this Sunday.

Tommy DeVito is progressing

If there’s one thing we notice during the first half, it’s that Tommy DeVito (18/26, 246 yards, 3TD) is progressing. If the rookie quarterback still struggles with pressure management, his throws are more precise than during his first outings.

It is particularly in the in-depth game that the player shines. Thanks to a 24-yard pass for Saquon Barkley (14 races, 83 yards; 4rec, 57 yards, 2TD) and a 40-yard pass for Darius Slayton, the Giants found the endzone twice. After this reception, New York then leads 14-3 to the “general surprise”.

A result helped by an attack from the Commanders who had been struggling for a long time. On the first two series, Sam Howell threw an interception on an overloaded pass and Logan Thomas lost a ball on a reception.

Washington ended up getting back on track with a field goal and above all a touchdown (9-14, missed extra point) before halftime. After 75 yards, it was Howell who concluded with a breakaway run.

Sam Howell sinks

In the second half, New York’s defense did everything to maintain the advantage. She causes 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions.

Washington scores a field goal and a touchdown, but it’s not enough with these ball losses. Because the Giants manage to improve some of these turnovers.

There is a field goal but above all a new touchdown receiving from Saquon Barkley which almost puts the Giants out of reach.

It is therefore the 3rd interception which will definitively give the victory to the New Yorkers
Once again, Ron Rivera’s men lose a match that should have been within their reach… If Sam Howell has shown some good in recent weeks, this is not really the case for his head coach.
