Washington Commanders (10-5) – Philadelphia Eagles (12-3): 36-33
The Commanders and Jayden Daniels kept their hopes of winning the NFC East division alive after a close-to-the-wire victory over the Eagles. The Philadelphia match was more complicated than expected after the injury to Jalen Hurts (1/4, 11 yards). The quarterback left with a concussion, and was replaced by a valiant but limited Kenny Pickett (14/24, 143 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT).
Washington overcame turnovers (5 in the match!) and cascading fouls to finally win. Jayden Daniels (24/39, 258 yards, 81 yards rushing, 5 TD, 2 INT) was like his team, in difficulty sometimes and responsible for losing balls, he was nevertheless very good otherwise and knew how to give his best in the second half to lead his group to victory.
The pass to Jamison Crowder (15 yards, 2 TD) with 6 seconds remaining is obviously the action of the match.
Both teams are in the playoffs. Philadelphia will need a win to win the division. Maybe without Jalen Hurts.
Jalen Hurts out, Saquon Barkley on fire
Since the start of the season, the Eagles have struggled in the first quarter. That's not the case tonight, with 21 points in the first 15 minutes. Saquon Barkley (150 yards, 2 TDs) was inspired and managed 109 yards and 2 touchdowns in this time frame. Kenny Pickett finds AJ Brown.
In response, the Commanders only had a touchdown from Jamison Crowder. The start of the match is green, and Washington is in difficulty (7-21).
Fortunately for the Commanders, they have Terry McLaurin (60 yards, 1 TD), who finds the opening on a long distance touchdown (14-21). After the first act the Eagles had a short lead.
The Yellow Handkerchief Festival, Jayden Daniels the Savior
If we have to summarize the 2nd quarter, we just have to talk about yellow handkerchiefs. Both teams increase fouls, but no one does better than Marshon Lattimore and his 3 pass interferences. The Eagles take advantage with 2 field goals (14-27).
Luckily for Washington, Jayden Daniels knows how to run. And it is with his legs that he revives his team for a final touchdown from Olamide Zaccheaus (21-27). The Commanders are in the match, while the Eagles are no longer advancing, the fault of a poor and slow Kenny Pickett.
As the match bogged down, Jayden Daniels found Olamide Zaccheaus (70 yards, 2 TD) for the double on another long pass, proof of the quarterback's explosiveness and his ability to break the deadlock in a match (27-28). Philadelphia did not give up, achieving two field goals, interspersed with an interception from Reed Blankenship.
However, a drop by Devonta Smith gave Washington 1 minute and 52 seconds to win the game. The rest belongs to the young history of the quarterback. First decisive on the ground, he found Jamison Crowder for the touchdown 6 seconds from the end. Checkmate.
