Commanders cut Carson Wentz

Wentz did not convince in the federal capital either.

Once again the adventure is cut short for Carson Wentz. According to ESPN, Washington has decided to cut the quarterback acquired less than a year ago.

The Commanders had tried their luck by trading the pitcher to Indianapolis last season, for two third-round draft picks. Additionally, Wentz cost them $28.3 million in payroll for a single season.

During his only campaign in the capital, Wentz will have produced a record of 2 wins against 5 losses as a holder, for 1755 yards thrown with 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. In comparison, Taylor Heinicke returned a record of 5 wins for 3 losses and 1 draw. As for Sam Howell, who now has the edge to take over the position, he only played one match last year but ended in victory.

Wentz will therefore find himself on the open market, and will probably not be able to aim for anything other than a substitute position. His stints in Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Washington ended in increasingly scathing failures. Gone are the days when he was cited as the favorite in the race for MVP.
