Colts: DeForest Buckner extends for $46 million

DeForest Buckner will be a Colts player through the end of the 2026 season.

In any case, these are the terms of the contract extension that he signed on Monday. ESPN announces that the defensive tackle has signed for two more years and an amount of 46 million dollars.

There was only one year left on DeForest Buckner's lease in Indianapolis. He will earn $20.2 million in 2024 and his new contract extension will take effect then.

Salaries: DeForest Buckner, number 5 at his position

The contract extension signed by Buckner will offer him $23 million per season. He didn't break the bank, as that puts him in fifth place among defensive tackles.

Chris Jones ($31.75M), Christian Wilkins ($27.5M), Justin Madbuike ($24.5M) and Derrick Brown ($24M) are all doing better, some with contracts signed in recent weeks.

Besides being a money story, DeForest Buckner's contract extension is above all a good sporting deal for the Colts. Since arriving in Indianapolis in 2020, he has brought at least 7 sacks in each season.

The Colts had sent a first-round pick to the 49ers to get him. Immediately after his arrival, he signed for four years and $84 million.
