Colts – Chiefs (20-17): Patrick Mahomes stalls at start and ends up in the wall

Indianapolis Colts (1-1-1) – Kansas City Chiefs (2-1): 20-17

Patrick Mahomes’ first interception of the season (20/35, 262 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) will have hurt Kansas City very badly. While trying to get a miracle with 24 seconds left, the Chiefs pitcher was intercepted by Rodney McLeod after a deflection from Stephon Gilmore.

Nothing scandalous in the end. With only 315 yards in total, an ugly 3/10 for third attempts and 6 penalties, Andy Reid’s men were far from their usual performance. Two punts to start, only three points after the break… Tough evening.

In their defense, the special teams did not help, with a missed field goal at 30 yards and a missed snap on another field goal. Six points that could have made a huge difference…

Matt Ryan not much better

If the Colts win, it’s not because they have particularly shone offensively either. They even did worse, with only 259 yards. With six offenses completed without points, Matt Ryan (27/37, 222 yards, 2 TDs) has often seemed in trouble. The fault also with a good defense of the Chiefs, who put him on the ground five times and very well limited the ground game of the blues. Jonathan Taylor only progressed at the rate of 3.4 yards per carry.

Indianapolis found the end zone first thanks to Jelani Woods. Travis Kelce (4 rec, 58 yards, 1 TD) answered, but Matt Amendola, the kicker, missed the extra point. After a touchdown from Clyde Edwards-Herlaire, Kansas City even leads 14-10.

After an exchange of field goal in the third quarter, the two attacks skate seriously. And it was finally Jelani Woods who put her team ahead with 24 seconds remaining. Move of mercy. This time, no miracle for the Chiefs.

But we should have woken up much earlier.
