The Chiefs want to secure one of their key defenders.
According to BleacherReport, this Wednesday, the Chiefs are using the franchise tag for cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. ESPN added that the franchise would be willing to compromise if no long-term agreement is reached. And Sneed would be open to talking with other franchises.
The franchise tag for the cornerbacks will be $19.8 million fully guaranteed for the 2024 season. It will give both sides until mid-July to negotiate a long-term deal.
L'Jarius Sneed, 27, was selected 138th overall by the Chiefs in the 2020 draft. In 2023, the cornerback played in 16 games with the Chiefs for 78 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, one fumble covered and 14 passes defended.
