Chauncey Gardner-Johnson returns to Eagles

Philadelphia, do you love it or leave it? The safety might have remembered that saying, and returned to where he had his best career season.

According to his agents, Chauncey Garder-Johnson will return to the Eagles for a longer contract.

This contract is for 3 years, and $33 million according to ESPN.

At only 26 years old, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is coming off a season where he only played 3 games with the Lions. The fault lies with a pectoral injury which kept him away for almost the entire season. However, he was able to play the last regular season game where he still signed an interception.

Any chance of being at the Super Bowl again?

Chauncey “CJ” Gardner-Johnson will therefore strengthen a position of need for the Eagles. After being a finalist with this same team in 2022, and not getting far in 2023 with the Lions, he will form an interesting pair with Reed Blankenship. He will also mentor rookie Sydney Brown, drafted in the 3rd round last year.

As a reminder, in 2022, for his first stint with the Eagles, he was one of the best interceptors in the league with 6 interceptions.
