The cleaning continues on the Washington defensive line. The Commanders traded Chase Young to the 49ers for a 3rd round pick, revealed FOX Sports. After Montez Sweat, who left earlier for Chicago, the Commanders part with their two starting pass rushers.
Often injured, Chase Young nonetheless remains a very talented player, who joins a pass rusher squad full of quality players, but who has struggled for several weeks. After Randy Gregory a few weeks ago, Chase Young is San Francisco’s second reinforcement on the position.
With the 49ers, Young will reunite with his teammate at Ohio State, Nick Bosa, who was the 2nd pick in the draft a year before him. If he stays healthy, he should therefore bring a real additional danger to the defensive line, giving a boost to the San Francisco defense. He has been the author of 5 sacks since the start of the season.
In Washington, the discussion seemed to be whether Montez Sweat or Chase Young was going to go. Both were transferred within three hours. The reconstruction of the Commanders pass rush is underway.
