Cardinals – Rams (14-37): The strong return of Kyren Williams

Arizona Cardinals (2-10) – Los Angeles Rams (5-6): 14-37

The NFC West in the spotlight with two teams with a negative record, and which will remain so at the end of this match. 3rd consecutive match as a starter for Kyler Murray on the Arizona side. Narrowly victorious against the Seahawks last week, the Rams will try to achieve a second consecutive victory. Which would be a first for Sean McVay’s franchise this season.

Man of the match is Kyren Williams, in top form for his return. With 207 cumulative yards (143 rushing, 61 passing) and 2 touchdowns, he signed the best game of his young career. Matthew Stafford (25/33, 229 yards, 4 TDs, INT) is not left out, with 4 touchdown passes. A performance that he has not achieved since the 2021 season. With an irresistible attack with 5 touchdowns, Los Angeles achieved its best offensive performance of the season, and relaunched itself in the race for the wild card.

Nothing to remember on the Cardinals side, with a good Kyler Murray (27/45, 256 yards, 2 TDs), but still breaking in, and a surprisingly neglected ground game. After a promising start to the match, Arizona suffered, and is the 2nd team to have 10 defeats this season, after the Panthers a few minutes earlier.

Tyler Higbee sees double…

In this first period, the hierarchy is respected. The Rams offer pleasant football, facing an overwhelmed Cardinals defense. Matthew Stafford had his best period of the season, with 3 touchdown passes, including 2 for Tyler Higbee (5 REC, 29 yards, 2 TDs), his first of the season for the tight end.

The return of Kyren Williams also feels good. Injured against the same Cardinals, missing 1 month of competition, the running back resumed his good habits, with a touchdown on a screen pass reception. The only false note is at the end of the half, with an avoidable interception by Stafford, trying to look for Puka Nacua (4 REC, 27 yards), until then discreet.

In front of the score for a time thanks to a running touchdown from Kyler Murray, the Cardinals no longer existed afterward. 3 punts, a 4th failed attempt, until this interception by Jalen Thompson, which leads to a field goal, succeeds, then… canceled due to a seizure. A half to forget for the dominated Cardinals. (21-8)

…Kyren Williams too

When leaving the locker room, a reaction from the locals is expected. Despite their good will, the Cardinals are penalized too much, or do not take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves. Like the field goal missed by Matt Prater. Los Angeles will then benefit. And who else but Kyren Williams?

The running back will drive home the point with a second receiving touchdown. The defense is not to be outdone, with Kobie Turner (2 sacks) in the oven and at the mill on the defensive line, compensating for the discreet part of Aaron Donald. The aerial defense is also up to par, forcing Kyler Murray with just 50% completion passes.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Cardinals defense gave up, and was unable to tackle Royce Freeman. The running back pushes against the Cardinals who are limited, but who are fighting. The latter saved the honor by Greg Dortch (3 REC, 27 yards, TD) on a touchdown pass from Kyler Murray.
