Cardinals owner accused of cheating and racism

A former franchise executive accuses Michael Bidwill of failing to comply with a league sanction.

After the Commanders, it is the turn of the Cardinals to see their owner implicated by a complaint. Former Cardinals vice president Terry McDonough filed a lawsuit with the NFL on Tuesday accusing franchise owner Michael Bidwill of misconduct. The content was revealed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

McDonough notably accuses Bidwill of having forced him, along with Steve Wilks, the coach at the time, to use a secret phone in 2018 to communicate with Steve Keim while he was suspended for driving while impaired. drunk.

Worse, Bidwill would then, according to him, have soaped Wilks’ board throughout the season, and made the two men experience harassment in the face of their refusal to cheat. Bidwill is also blamed for the poor treatment of employees of color, and of a pregnant woman, as well as a general climate of oppression in the teams.

The Cardinals denied any misconduct in a statement.

“We are saddened to see that Terry is now attacking our organization with backbiting and outrage that is completely at odds with the facts. This superfluous action by Terry is only intended to embarrass his colleagues, our owner Michael Bidwill, and our team with unfounded accusations,” the franchise said.
