Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5) Tennessee Titans (3-6): 20-6
Defenses full of veterans rarely make young quarterbacks happy. New example this Sunday with Will Levis (19/39, 199 yards, 1 int) tormented by the Buccaneers. Regularly under pressure, not helped by the ground game, the rookie who replaced Ryan Tannehill did not even manage to get a touchdown.
The Titans were not catastrophic. They only lost one ball. They were just not as good.
This gave a little margin to Baker Mayfield (18/29, 278 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int) and company. Their attack started very slowly, before Rashaad White (20 races, 51 yards – 2 rec, 47 yards, 1 TD) and Mike Evans (6 rec, 143 yards, 1 TD) unblocked the situation.
The Titans got off to a good start
With 55 yards and a field goal on the first possession, the Titans could believe they had started correctly. Especially with an interception right away.
But the attack did not hit the nail on the head. No more than on the next four possessions. The offensive line left Levis exposed to Shaq Barrett (1 sack) and his teammates. Derrick Henry (11 races, 24 yards) did not affect the match.
Rashaad White scores for Tampa, which leads 7-3 at the break. Then 10-3 after a field goal returning from the locker room, and 17-3 with Evans’ touchdown. After an exchange of kicks, the score is fixed (20-6) in the last quarter.
Levis throws an interception before failing twice on fourth down. The learning continues.
