Antoine Winfield Jr will be with the Buccaneers for at least one more season. The safety has just received his team's franchise tag.
No team change for Antoine Winfield Jr! The Buccanneers safety will stay in Tampa in 2024. His team has just placed his franchise tag on himaccording to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
According to the journalist, this decision is rather a temporary solution pending a long-term agreement between the two parties. Winfield and Tampa Bay will have until mid-July to agree on a big contract. For the moment, this tag guarantees 16.2 million dollars to the player.
Safety still strong
At 25 years old, the safety is one of the best in the league at his position. Selected in the second round of the 2020 draft with the 45th pick, Winfield has always played for the Buccaneers. In 2023, he appeared in all 17 games played by Tampa.
He recorded 122 tackles, six sacks, six forced fumbles, including four recoveries, three interceptions and 12 passes defended. In short, an ultra-solid season which obviously pushes those in charge of Tampa Bay to offer his services a little longer.
