Buccaneers – Lions (6-20): Amon-Ra St. Brown, resounding return

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) – Detroit Lions (5-1): 6-20

Detroit continues its strong season. 5th victory of the season for the Michigan State franchise. A victory marked by the resounding return of Amon-Ra St. Brown (12 REC, 124 yards, TD). The Lions are on track to win the NFC North. So, they can seriously consider qualifying for the playoffs.

Absent last week, the Lions receiver was not missed that much against the Panthers. But, against the Buccanneers, he proved that he was the priority target of a still very good Jared Goff (30/44, 353 yards, 2 TDs).

Around Jared Goff, a lot of satisfaction. The return of Jameson Williams (2 REC, 53 yards, TD) also did good, with a touchdown. The only false note in Detroit’s good performance was the new injury to runner David Montgomery, who was injured in the ribs.

Resting last week, Tampa Bay can be satisfied with its defense with 4 sacks, including the first of his career for rookie Calijah Kancey. But, offensively, the Buccanneers made a lot of approximations to worry the Lions. This defeat is a setback for Todd Bowles’ team.

Cleaner Lions

In the first half, the two teams did not take off. 164 yards for Detroit. Barely better for Tampa Bay with 109 yards. Ultimately, it is the one who makes the fewest mistakes who will take the advantage at the end of the half.

In this game, it is the Lions who win. Despite conceding 2 sacks, and a ground game that was not as impressive as usual, Detroit is ahead. All thanks to a precise Jared Goff, and the return of his star receiver.

The Buccanneers are accumulating inaccuracies. For the following result: 4 punts, 1 field goal and 1 interception. The return of Mike Evans (4 REC, 49 yards) does not have the desired effect. Although targeted 3 times, he was the author of a missed reception on a precise pass from his quarterback (10-3).

The Ghostly Buccaneers

Tampa Bay’s offensive problems are confirmed. Baker Mayfield is not helped by his receivers, who commit fouls. The running game is rarely used. Apart from a field goal at the start of the 3rd quarter, all of Tampa Bay’s offensive series yielded no points. However, Baker Mayfield was only sacked once. But, he would have ended the meeting with an injury.

Meanwhile, Jared Goff finds Jameson Williams for a long 45-yard touchdown. The defense also does its part of the job, ultimately only conceding 3 points in each period. With a well-developed aerial attack and a solid defense, the Lions have reason to envisage a peaceful future. However, for the next few weeks, we will have to find solutions on the ground in the absence of Jahmyr Gibbs, and perhaps David Montgomery.
