Buccaneers: Chris Godwin signs for 3 years and 60 million

Chris Godwin will not have to play under the franchise tag for a second season in a row. ESPN announces that the receiver and the Buccaneers have agreed to a 3-year contract.

Maximum amount, $60 million. Of this total, 40 million are fully guaranteed upon signature.

According to our colleagues, Godwin wanted a three-year contract in order to be free again at 29 years old.

The good news for Tampa is that voidable years are added to the end of the deal, bringing Godwin’s impact on the salary cap down to just $5 million for the upcoming season.

Author of 98 receptions for 1103 yards last season, Godwin’s primary mission will be to get back in shape. Because he tore the anterior cruciate ligament of a knee in Week 15.
