Buccaneers – Bears (27-17): Mike Evans shines, Justin Fields goes out

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0) – Chicago Bears (0-2): 27-17

In a fair duel on paper, Tampa Bay ultimately won this match by relying on its stars. If Baker Mayfield (26/34, 317 yards, 1 TD) had another great performance, it was four-time Pro Bowler receiver Mike Evans (171 yards, 1 TD) who splashed the match with his talent. The Floridians’ offensive performance is satisfactory, but it also highlights the lack of talent in the Bears’ defense. Chicago does not have a front seven, and was unable to take advantage of a weak offensive line in front.

On the other side of the field Justin Fields (16/29, 211 yards, 3 yards rushing, 2 TD, 2 INT) is still valiant, but the progress remains weak, and he is unable to pass the expected milestone. Decisive at the start of the match with DJ Moore, the quarterback then disappeared, multiplying the inaccuracies and unable to get rid of the opposing pressure. 6 sacks for the Buccs defense, with a gala Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Justin Fields will also crucify his team with a pick six when they had the opportunity to come back.

With this second victory, the Buccaneers are still in the race in the NFC South. For Chicago, the season already promises to be long as other teams break away in the North.

A spark then the black hole for Justin Fields

If Tampa Bay accumulates long productive drives from the start of the match, the lack of finishing is felt. While the Floridians only scored a field goal in two possessions, Chicago scored a touchdown on its first opportunity. After a lot of work from DJ Moore (104 yards), Justin Fields finished on the ground to give the Bears the advantage (3-7).

Without panicking, Baker Mayfield and his squad will regain control of this match, on the ground and in the air. Rachaad White (103 yards, 1 TD) is at the conclusion of the touchdown to get back in front, before Chase McLaughlin allows the Buccs to finish the first act in front (13-10).

Talent makes the difference

From the start of the second half, it was Mike Evans who took charge. Absolutely irresistible, he accumulates big receptions and scores the break touchdown (20-10). With its back to the wall, Chicago will nevertheless believe it with Chase Claypool’s first touchdown (36 yards, 1 TD) in its new colors (20-17).

While the Bears can come back, Justin Fields will make more mistakes to lose this game. With a pick six for Shaquil Barrett (27-17), then an interception for rookie Christian Izien. Game after game, the quarterback demonstrates that he may not be the long-term solution for his team.
