The former Bucs coach believes the quarterback was responsible for his team’s poor streak.
Bruce Arians never had his tongue in his pocket, and he hasn’t changed. While the Buccaneers have chained this Sunday a second success in a row against Seattle (21-16), the former coach of Floridians and now special adviser to the general manager, gave his version this week on the three defeats of the team that preceded this revival.
“Nobody is going to say that Brady was playing badly, but he was playing badly,” Arians blurted out to JoeBucsFan.com. “We also had problems with our young offensive line and we weren’t running well,” tempered the man who led Tampa Bay to the title in 2020.
Uncompromising on past mistakes, the former Cardinals coach was optimistic about the rest of his team’s season, while alluding to the mentality of the seven-ring quarterback, who ended his divorce at the end of October.
“We have fewer injuries. Last week Tom smiled in training for the first time this season. He will be better. I love the will with which we played on Sunday, especially in defence. It had failed. Seattle has a good run, but their runner (Kenneth Walker III) hasn’t gone anywhere,” he said.
We knew that relations between Brady and Arians had not always been excellent due to the latter’s harshness, but there is one subject on which the two agree. After the pitcher was amused by Leonard Fournette’s rather ridiculous interception, his former coach did the same.
“Never tell a runner he can throw the ball, because whatever happens he will throw it,” laughed Arians about this action where Leonard Fournette attempted a pass to Brady, who was covered by Tariq Woolen.
When you win, everything is funnier.
