Browns: Myles Garrett youngest player with 100 career sacks

Myles Garrett (Browns) became the youngest player in history to reach 100 career sacks. In fact, he will soon be 29 years old (on December 29). Before Sunday's game against the Bengals, he had recorded just one sack in three games. He was therefore stuck at 99.5 sacks. Myles Garrett reached the symbolic mark at the end of the first half by putting his hands on Joe Burrow (QB, Bengals).

“It makes my father proud,” he told Dan Labbe (Cleveland.com) on Monday. “It was for my dad, so that’s what it means to me. It doesn't mean much in a defeat but I see him smiling. He's been telling me to do it for three weeks so I'm glad I did it for him. »

The Browns are in the middle of a complicated season. In fact, they have only won three games in fifteen matches. The news should make fans smile for a few moments.

Browns lucky to have Myles Garrett

Age aside, the Browns defensive end is tied with Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor for the fourth-fastest mark in games with 100 sacks in 115 games. He joins Reggie White (124), DeMarcus Ware (111), Jared Allen (105) and TJ Watt (104) among players with at least 100 sacks in their first eight seasons.

Garrett is even the only one besides Lawrence to record at least 12 sacks in five consecutive seasons.

“I didn’t know all that,” he said, modestly. “It’s a great company. He's one of the guys I admired as an athlete, a football player. I always watch videos of him to watch his tenacity and all that. »

Reigning Defender of the Year, the Browns have one of the best players of his generation in Myles Garrett. All that remains is to achieve the ultimate collective accomplishment, the Super Bowl. That's all the bad we wish them.
