Browns – Jets (30-31): No matter the Flacco, as long as we are drunk

Cleveland Browns (1-1) – New York Jets (1-1): 30-31

Led by 13 points with 2:30 to go, the Jets have not forgotten that in football, it’s never over. Carried by rookie Garrett Wilson (8 receptions, 102 yards, 2 TDs), New York scores, recovers the onside kick, and scores again. Game over, the Browns are groggy.

Jacoby Brissett as game manager, Nick Chubb as blaster

In 8 drives, the Browns score 5 times. A pace that the Jets have somehow tried to follow (14-14 at halftime) but, too limited by Flacco (26/44, 307 yards, 4 touchdowns) in the first three quarters, the gap widens in the second half until it reaches 17-30.

On the Cleveland side, Jacoby Brissett was rather clean (22/27, 229 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception), and sought to put the ball in the hands of his playmakers, in particular the Dallas defector Amari Cooper (9 receptions, 101 yards, 1 TD). But it is above all the electric battery Nick Chubb (17 races, 87 yards, 3 TD) and his devastating cuts that allow the Browns to take off.

Flacco sounds the charge, Hardee responds

While all is lost, Flacco manages to find a completely lonely Corey Davis (2 receptions, 86 yards, 1 TD) for a touchdown from 66 yards.

The mojo has changed sides, hope is reborn among the greens. An onside kick covered by Justin Hardee later, and the ball is back in the hands of a Flacco who lost 10 in 3 minutes. 53 yards later, touchdown and victory for Jets who will never let go.

Hard blow for Cleveland who had to win winnable games, pending the return of Deshaun Watson, if they wanted to cherish the hope of going to the play-offs. On the side of the Jets, a victory is always good to take, but we must not forget three first quarters worrying times against weak opposition.
