Broncos – Jets (21-31): The rebirth of Breece Hall

Denver Broncos (1-4) – New York Jets (2-3): 21-31

In a context where declarations were made between the two teams before the start of the season, the Broncos do not confirm their comeback from last week against the Bears.

Everything was decided with 30 seconds remaining. While Denver has the opportunity to snatch the victory, a fumble sack by Quincy Williams on Russell Wilson allows cornerback Bryce Hall to seal the victory for the Jets.

Second victory for the Jets this season, and for Zach Wilson (19/29, 199 yards, INT). If the quarterback alternated between good and bad, he was able to count on a return ground game. A return symbolized by the great performance of Breece Hall (22 races, 177 yards, 1 TD).

For the Broncos, the crisis is brewing. If he doesn’t want to do worse than his predecessor, Sean Payton will have to find solutions, or risk not lasting long in Colorado.

Serial inaccuracies

The first period is marked by several approximations. In Denver, we mostly give gifts. 3 points following a ball released by Marvin Mims Jr. on a punt return. 2 points on a safety caused by the Jets defense, following an intentional throw from Russell Wilson (20/31, 196 yards, 2 TDs, 2 fumbles including 1 lost).

At the Jets, we do not take advantage of opportunities to widen or reduce the gap. At the end of the first half, with a throw-in that was too late, the Broncos’ opportunity to get within 2 points was even wasted.

Aside from the safety, the New York defense concedes too many yards, especially on the ground. However, it is in the air that Broncos running back Jaleel McLaughin (89 yards, 1 TD) scores the first touchdown of the game. (13-8)

Breece Hall sounds the revolt

In the second half, a 72-yard run by Breece Hall was enough to put the Jets in front. Opposite, the Broncos become apathetic. 4 punts, and 1 fumble from Samaje Perine on a reverse play give confidence to the New York team. Unfortunately, Zach Wilson does not take advantage of this, contenting himself with widening the gap slightly with the help of field goals.

Denver therefore does not miss the opportunity to get back into the match. Russell Wilson finds tight end Adam Trautman for a touchdown. Then, Patrick Surtain II made his first interception of the season. We then think Denver capable of snatching victory. Finally, Russell Wilson’s loss of ball will destroy a new hope of remontada of the Broncos.
