Denver Broncos (6-5) – Cleveland Browns (7-4): 29-12
It seems like a long time ago when the Broncos collected defeats and collected loads of points. With a 5th victory in a row, Sean Payton’s men confirm their claim to a place in the playoffs. However, not everything is perfect. The attack still suffers from a lack of consistency, and Russell Wilson (13/22, 134 yards, 1 TD, 1 TD rushing) is still far from the level he was at in Seattle. But against Cleveland and its NFL leading defense in yards conceded, the adversity was very solid.
Deprived of their starting quarterback, the Browns also lost his replacement along the way. Hit in the mouth, Dorian Thomson-Robinson gave way to PJ Walker at the end of the 3rd quarter. From that moment on, Denver’s defense took complete control of the game and never let up. In a one-sided 4th quarter, they made the difference by creating several turnovers that the attack was able to improve.
Russell Wilson does the minimum
Not necessarily on a great night, the Broncos quarterback was greatly helped by his running game. And the distribution of games went in this direction. Yet well into his match with a first drive leading to the touchdown, Wilson then blew hot and cold throughout the match. Guilty of a fumble on the next possession, he then made up for it by ending up on the ground himself. Never able to establish the rhythm, he was unable to shelter his team and can thank the offensive difficulties of the Browns. Already not very flamboyant with Watson, Cleveland’s aerial attack is suffering.
Denver’s defense is back
Destroyed by the Dolphins a few weeks ago, the Broncos defense is doing much better. Despite conceding a touchdown after returning from the locker room, it was Vance Joseph’s squad that made the difference and gave Denver the victory. A mix-up between Elijah Moore and Pierre Strong allowed DJ Jones to recover a fumble, quickly upgraded to a touchdown after Wilson connected with his tight end Adam Trautman. Then it’s Locke who tears the leather from Walker’s hands only to see the attack add 3 more points a few moments later. At the end of the match, Denver remained intractable and continued its undermining work. A safety from Zach Allen adds 2 points and completes the great evening for the Colorado men.
