Broncos: $60 million for Jonathon Cooper

ESPN reported that Denver offered Jonathon Cooper a four-year contract extension over the weekend. The outside linebacker therefore signs an extension worth 60 million dollars (an average of 15 million per season), of which 33 million is guaranteed.

Jonathan Cooper stays

Cooper was in the final year of his rookie contract, and was set to become a free agent at the end of the year. He was recruited in the seventh round of the 2021 draft. The Broncos therefore wanted to secure one of their young defensive nuggets and avoid seeing him leave on the open market.

In 2024, Cooper already has a statistical line provided. He recorded 35 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and forced 1 fumble. Starting every game last year, he accumulated 8.5 sacks and 72 tackles for the defense led by Vance Joseph in a reference year.

Baron Browning leaves

However, not everyone is lucky enough to be rewarded, and sometimes it is better to start from scratch. Thus, NFL Network announces that the Broncos have reached an agreement with the Cardinals to exchange Baron Browning for a sixth round draft pick. Arizona was looking for a pass rusher, and Browning was on their radar, as was the Giants' Azeez Ojulari.

Drafted in the third round in 2021, Browning suffered a foot injury in Week 2 and spent time on the injured list before being activated last month. This year, in five games and two starts in Denver, he recorded 7 tackles but no sacks.
