Brian Schottenheimer New Dallas Cowboys coach

Internal promotion in Dallas. Following the departure of Mike McCarthy, it was its attacking coordinator Brian Schottenheimer who won the vacant position of Head Coach. The franchise has formalized the news on its site.

Schottenheimer's 51, Schotenheimer has always been in the League since he started his career with the Rams (from Saint-Louis) in 1997. He was then only 23 years old.

Since then, the native of Denver has scoured the league by officiating in nine different teams, still on the side of the attack. He was notably five times offensive coordinator, at the Jets, Rams, Seahawks, Jaguars and therefore Cowboys in the past two seasons. It was therefore under his offensive system that Dak Prescott finished second in the MVP vote last season. Often quoted as a candidate for a head coach position, it will be his first experience in this position.

Was this promotion in cowboys plans? Nothing is less certain because the franchise seemed confident in its ability to extend the Mike McCarthy contract. Dallas may therefore have found his beak in the water when the latter decided to leave the franchise. The other candidates in vogue (Ben Johnson, Liam Cohen, Aaron Glenn) having quickly been taken by storm by the franchises in need, Dallas found himself to speak with less striking names (Leslie Frazier, Kellen Moore) .

With this hiring, the New Orleans are therefore now the only franchise not to have found a shoe at its foot.
