Hot news

– [Off-season] San Francisco 49ers: the hunt continues

End of an era in Dallas

The franchise's oldest player, Tyron Smith is not expected to return to the Cowboys in 2024. According to NFL Media, the multiple All Pro left tackle should wear other colors for the first time in his career at age 33.

Often prone to injuries in recent seasons, Smith has not had a full season since 2015. But when he is on the field he remains a benchmark for his position as shown by his selection to the 2nd team All Pro this season.

Darren Waller still considering his future

While the Giants do not seem to be moving towards cutting Darren Waller, the 31-year-old tight end is still reportedly considering the future of his career. According to the New York Post, Waller is still considering possible retirement.

“I haven't made any decisions whatsoever,” Waller told the Post.

Transactions

– Cleaning at the Commanders. Charles Leno (OT), Nick Gates (OL) and Logan Thomas (TE) were all cut by the franchise. (NFL Media)

– The Giants will part ways with Mark Glowinski (OL) according to ESPN. His departure will represent a saving of $5.7 million for the franchise.

Coach, coach, coach

– The 49ers have finally found the defensive coordinator. According to ESPN, Nick Sorensen, previously in charge of the defensive passing game, will be promoted in place of Steve Wilks after the lost Super Bowl. Former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley should also bounce back in San Francisco. Still according to ESPN, he should obtain an important role in the staff, most likely the role of assistant head coach.

Rumors

– Mike Evans could indeed discover a 2nd team at 30 years old. Negotiations between receiver and the Buccaneers have stalled, and the player plans to test the market. (The Athletic)

– The Packers should not bring back AJ Dillon (RB) according to the Milwaukee Journal. The former 2nd round was never better than an understudy in Green Bay and never had better than 803 yards in a season.

– Simple smoke screen or real desire, the Bears spent a lot of time investigating future quarterbacks during the combine according to Bleacher Report. Significant interest which further strengthens the rumors of an imminent exchange of Justin Fields.

– Future free agent, Josh Jacobs (RB, Raiders) would not like to commit for several seasons unless there is a really very lucrative offer. The rider would favor a return to Vegas even for just one season. (NFL trade rumors)

In short

After the end of the naming partnership with FedEx, the franchise from the federal capital renamed its stadium Commanders Fields.
