Bills – Giants (14-9): for a small yard!

Buffalo Bills (4-2) – New York Giants (1-5): 14-9

After the 49ers and the Eagles, the Bills almost became the third Sunday team to lose in surprising fashion. In a locked match, Buffalo nevertheless held on until the last action. And even a little more.

In the absence of Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor had the ball to get the victory at the very end of the game. His pass to Darren Waller did not find the target. But the referees gave him a second chance by penalizing defender Terrel Bernard for defensive interference. Everything therefore came down to one last action, granted when the time had already gone to zero. Taylor looked for Waller again, with only 1 yard to go, once again without result.

The Giants more realistic… but not really

Difficult to say that the offensive spectacle was there in this match. On their six possessions in the first half, the Bills accumulated three punts, two loose balls and a missed field goal. They return to the locker room without a single point. The Giants are barely better, with two successful kicks. They lead 6-0 at the break.

In this game, you have to fight for every yard. The New York players have the advantage of being more realistic on third attempts (10/19), but they are incapable of finishing in the red zone (0/5). Even if his statistics are not explosive, the return of Saquon Barkley (24 races, 93 yards – 4 rec, 5 yards) is good.

The Bills methodically avoid the trap

In the second half, the Bills play it methodical rather than explosive. Their first possession lasted almost ten minutes and ended with a touchdown from Deonte Harty on a pass from Josh Allen (7-6). New York immediately responds on foot (7-9), but Buffalo restarts the steamroller for almost seven minutes and 12 actions. This time, it’s Quintin Morris who scores (14-9).

The defense even seems to finish the job by stopping a fourth attempt attempted by the Giants in their own field. But the Bills offense does not take advantage, and Tyler Bass misses a 53-yard kick.

Taylor therefore has the last ball with 1mn25 to play. He runs 56 yards with his teammates. Unfortunately, 57 were needed.
