There hasn’t really been a debate for a while. But in his press release tribute to the career of Tom Brady published on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, Bill Belichick wanted to recall the obvious.
“I’m privileged to have drafted and coached Tom Brady, the ultimate competitor and winner. Tom’s humble beginnings in professional football eventually saw him become the greatest player in NFL history. Tom has consistently played at the highest level against opponents who have always made him the number one player to stop.
His pursuit of excellence was an inspiration. Tom was a confident, off-court professional, and he conducted himself with class, integrity and kindness. I thank Tom for his continual pursuit of excellence and his positive impact on me and the New England Patriots for 20 years. “
A message to which Brady replied on Instagram.
“Thank you Coach Belichick. I appreciate being coached by you, the best coach in NFL history. “
The best player in history. The best coach in history. True recognizes true. The Patriots really got lucky in the 21st century.
The ultimate competitor.
