Bengals: Start of the season compromised for Joe Burrow?

Injured yesterday in training, without contact, Joe Burrow will not see the field again immediately. Confirming at a press conference that his quarterback suffered from a calf contracture, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced an absence of several weeks.

According to most sports medicine organizations, such as Boston Sports Medicine, calf strains can take one to three weeks to heal in mild cases, and up to several months in severe cases.

A race against time therefore begins in Ohio, since the Bengals’ first regular season game will be played on September 10, against neighbors Cleveland. That gives “Joe Cool” six weeks to recover.

In the absence of Joe Burrow, the current alternatives are named Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning.
