After two games without a single touchdown (a first since 2004) and an embarrassing 3-19 defeat against the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus promised change. And the change is now! According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Networkoffensive coordinator Shane Waldron paid the price and was fired by the Illinois franchise.
After great promises in Los Angeles then Seattle, Shane Waldron failed to properly run the Bears attack. The offensive coordinator had in fact been the subject of much criticism since his appointment, particularly due to the difficulties of Caleb Williams (QB).
At the bottom of the wave, the Bears (4-5) have just lost three games in a row. They have scored just 27 points in that span and are averaging 277.6 yards per game this season, third lowest in the NFL. Waldron is leaving the franchise after less than 10 months on the job.
Shane Waldron disembarked, Thomas Brown replaces him
Thomas Brown, passing game coordinator, takes over as offensive coordinator and play caller until the end of the 2024 season. A decision made public by coach Matt Eberflus:
“After evaluating all of our options, I have decided that it is in our best interest to take a different direction in terms of coordinating our offense. This decision was carefully considered and made in a deliberate and respectful manner. I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him the best for the future. »
Under the orders of his new offensive coordinator, the Bears will try to end a series of 10 consecutive defeats against Green Bay this Sunday.
