Bears – Jaguars (35-16): Caleb Williams, god save the King

Chicago Bears (4-2) – Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5): 35-16

In a duel between two former draft numbers 1, Caleb Williams (23/29, 226 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT) and Trevor Lawrence (23/35, 234 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT), it is the most young man who shone. Well helped by a stellar Cole Kmet / Keenan Allen duo (2 TDs each), the Bears took the upper hand in the second quarter, and never seemed in danger against the weak Jaguars.

Caleb Williams was able to count on a rhythmic attack and a finally decisive line. The defense also got the job done, in what looks like the Bears' most complete game this year. The icing on the cake, D'Andre Swift (119 yards, 1 TD) also did the work on the ground.

The playoffs are no longer a dream in Chicago, but a goal! And Caleb Williams can individually aim for the title of offensive rookie of the year.

On the Jacksonville side, it feels like the end for Doug Pederson. The group plays without desire and without talent, difficult in these conditions to win a football match. Paradoxically, Trevor Lawrence seemed the only one who wanted to move the ball forward. Jacksonville may already have to think about the draft.

The Caleb Williams/Cole Kmet show

If Jacksonville opens the scoring in the first quarter with a field goal, they only have to delay the deadline. From the second quarter, the Bears took control of the match. Caleb Williams finds Cole Kmet for the first touchdown of the match (7-3).

From this point on, there is only one team on the field. Caleb Williams concedes an interception on a poorly timed pass, but uses his legs to redeem himself just behind. After an express drive, the quarterback found Cole Kmet for the double a few seconds before halftime (14-3).

After only 30 minutes, Chicago already seems untouchable, as Jacksonville seems unimaginative.

Jacksonville in distress

The start of the second act sets the tone, with a fumble from Evan Engram (102 yards). A few actions later, Caleb Williams scores his third touchdown, this time with Keenan Allen. With their backs to the wall, the Jaguars of valiant Trevor Lawrence reduce the gap with a touchdown from Gabe Davis (21-10).

Hope is short-lived, however. The defense chooses this moment to make a series of mistakes and give boulevards to D'Andre Swift. Caleb Williams concludes with Keenan Allen for the double (28-10). Checkmate.

The humiliation doesn't stop though. An interception by Josh Blackwell, then a finish in attack by D'Andre Swift for another touchdown (35-10). A benchmark match at all levels for a team that can easily play in the playoffs in the NFC.

The end feels like a slow agony. Gabe Davis (45 yards, 2 TD) scores a touchdown for the honor, after a good offensive drive, but without it changing anything.
