San Francisco gets ex-Carolina interim coach back
With the departure of DeMeco Ryans to Houston, San Francisco was left without a defensive coordinator. According to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapopport for NFL Network, the position is no longer available. Carolina’s interim head coach since October 10, Steve Wilks would be the lucky one.
This is the third time in three years that San Francisco has been forced to change defensive coordinators. Wilks’ two predecessors managed to make the 49ers one of the best defenses in the country. With players like Nick Bosa, Fred Warner or Talanoa Hufanga, everything is in place to maintain this squad at a very high level.
Despite his remarkable performance as the main coach of the Panthers, Steve Wilks must once again go back to the coordinator box. Not extended by the Panthers who preferred Frank Reich to him, the one who was also defensive coordinator for the Browns in 2019 will experience his third NFL franchise in this position.
