2028 Olympic Games: Flag Football, the Flame and Jalen Hurts!

Non-contact football will be part of the game in Los Angeles.

The Olympic Games are currently held in Paris, and they are a great success. But as soon as the flame is extinguished, the capital will pass the torch to Los Angeles for the 2028 edition.

And in the wake of the modernization of the games, a new discipline will appear in California: flag football, which will become an Olympic sport for the first time.

The question remains whether the NFL will copy the NBA, as the basketball league does not hesitate to send its professional stars to participate in the events. The subject has not yet been officially addressed.

Jalen Hurts lights the Olympic flame in flag football style

But the NFL isn't shy about riding the hype of the games, and has begun promoting the flag. In a spot aired Monday, it sent out Jalen Hurts to get fans salivating.

And the Philadelphia quarterback did nothing less than light the Olympic flame on the portico of the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The decision to add Flag Football to the 2028 Olympic Games program was officially announced in October 2023. As early as 2022, Pierre Trochet, president of the IFAF, explained to us the desire of the international federation and the NFL to jointly promote Flag Football.
