Zach Edey does big damage against the Pacers

There was neither Ja Morant nor Tyrese Haliburton on the floor for this Indiana – Memphis, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a show! With 23 points from Zach Edey, Memphis generally dominated the proceedings, having a lead of up to 21 points at the start of the fourth quarter (104-83) before slowing down to finally win 120-116.

What will remain of this match is above all the first big performance from the Grizzlies rookie pivot. Zach Edey was well served on multiple occasions by his teammates and was thus able to show the extent of his range in the low post and his finishing quality. Upon arrival, the Canadian interior scored 23 points and 9 rebounds in just 19 minutes. A good omen for the future!

Yuki Kawamura shows off

If Desmond Bane also had a good day (23 points), the absence of Ja Morant (and Marcus Smart) also allowed Yuki Kawamura to have his best game of the preseason. Revealed against France during the Olympic Games, the Japanese playmaker accumulated 10 points at 3/7 from distance and 7 assists, including some caviars that Zach Edey was able to benefit from.

On the Indiana side, it is difficult to draw lessons given the absence of the Haliburton-Siakam pair and other lieutenants. Closely followed on the occasion of his return to play, Bennedict Mathurin was much less visible than during his previous outing, finishing the match at 4/12 shooting for 12 points in 29 minutes and -16 on +/-
