Yuki Kawamura and Armando Bacot at Grizzlies camp

The Grizzlies have completed their training camp roster with four signatures. The Memphis franchise has 14 players with guaranteed contracts, and these four players will therefore be competing for the 15th and final contract. Knowing that the three “two-way contract” are already taken by Jay Huff, Scotty Pippen Jr and Cam Spencer.

The first of the guests is Armando Bacot (2m10), who is coming off five years at North Carolina with 13.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks on average. The best rebounder in Tar Heels history, he played 169 games there, and he started 168 times!

Yuki Kawamura, the unfortunate hero

The second is well known to the French since it is: Yuki Kawamura. MVP of the Japanese championship, this pocket-sized point guard (1m72) had caused trouble for the Blues during the Olympic Games with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists! It was also he who had fouled Strazel's miraculous shot, to offer the 3+1 of the equalizer to the young point guard of the French Team. A foul, certainly, very questionable… but which, in the end, would allow the Blues to equalize, then to win after overtime.

The other two guests already know the NBA. Miye Oni (1m95) has already played 80 NBA games with the Jazz, and this former second-round draft pick is averaging 1.8 points per game in his career. As for the slender winger Maozinha Pereirahe played 7 games with the Grizzlies last season for 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds on average.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to have them play mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
