World Cup | The United States against Italy, Canada against Slovenia in the quarter-finals

We now know the Top 8 of the 2023 World Cup, and it will be very different from that of 2019. Indeed, we find only 2 of the 8 teams present in the quarter-finals four years ago, Spain, Portugal ‘Argentina, France, Australia, the Czech Republic and Poland are no longer in the running…

With their victory against the United States, Jonas Valanciunas’ Lithuania finished in first place in their group, and will therefore challenge Serbia, second in theirs! It will be Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. French time.

With its defeat, Team USA finds itself on its side against Italy. Perhaps a blessing in disguise for Steve Kerr’s band, the Squadra azzurra being always difficult to maneuver, especially when they start to pick up the pace, but they also seem generally less solid than Serbia. It will also be Tuesday, at 2:40 p.m.

In the other two quarter-finals, we will thus find Germany against the big surprise of the competition, Latvia, on Wednesday, from 10:45 a.m. Before a big duel between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Canada and Luka Doncic’s Slovenia to also follow on Wednesday, from 2:30 p.m.

For the rest, the winner of Italy – United States will meet the winner of Germany – Latvia in the semi-finals while, in the other part of the table, the winner of the Lithuania – Serbia duel will be opposed in the semi-finals to that of winning the opposition between Canada and Slovenia.

The semi-finals will then be played on Friday, before the grand final scheduled for next Sunday.
