Spain’s roster for the 2023 World Cup just revealed. We already knew that Lorenzo Brown would be forfeited, but La Roja can count on the return of Ricky Rubio, absent last summer following his cruciate ligament injury, to take care of the lead.
In addition to the playmaker, Spain will be able to rely on its pillars, the same ones who carried the team to the title at Eurobasket 2022: Rudy Fernandez, but also the Hernangomez brothers, Willy and Juancho.
Overall, on the extended group of 16 players called up by Sergio Scariolo, 10 were already present during the European coronation against the France team. We can also note the presence of Santi Aldama, the young talent of the Grizzlies, or that of Usman Garuba, who has just joined the Hawks.
As a reminder, Spain, crowned in 2019 and therefore defending champion, is in group G of the competition, with Brazil, Iran and Côte d’Ivoire. It will then cross with group H (France, Canada, Latvia, Lebanon), and only the two best countries of this second phase will be qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition.
