WNBA Playoffs | Kelsey Plum, Aces send Gabby Williams' Storm on vacation

A little tour and then it goes away… The adventure of Gabby Williams in the WNBA is already over for 2024 as the Aces wrapped up the affair in two games against the Storm with an 83-76 victory, and a first quarter cannon marked by a sequence of nine baskets in a row without the slightest failure. The format, with the first two rounds at the home of the higher ranked team, provides a huge advantage, especially when it comes to Las Vegas.

As proof, the two-time defending champions won their 11th consecutive home victory in the playoffs last night. This is the Aces qualify for 6th straight for the playoff semi-finals, who will challenge Liberty in the next round. Without home court advantage.

Another record for A'ja Wilson

As in the first round, the Storm had their chance, and this time, it was Nneka Ogwumike's teammates (16 points, 10 rebounds) who were close to the hold-up.

With eight minutes to go, with a very good Gabby Williams (20 points) at the helm, Seattle had taken the lead of the match for the first time (65-64). But the Aces would respond with a 7-0 to regain a small cushion. In the “money time”, Ezi Magbegor would miss two free throws that would have allowed them to come back to -4.

Behind, Chelsea Gray gives back 8 points of advance, then Tiffany Hayes, in traffic, comes to validate the qualification with less than a minute to go. The two Olympic champions, Kelsey Plum and A'ja Wilson, were immense, with 29 points for the first, and 24 points and 13 rebounds for the double MVP. In passing, Wilson signs a 13th career game with more than 20 points and 10 rebounds, and it is a new record in playoffs.
