WNBA Playoffs | Aces vs. Liberty Revenge

By eliminating Gabby Williams' Storm, the Aces managed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2024 WNBA playoffs. They joined the New York Liberty, who eliminated the Atlanta Dream. The two teams will therefore cross swords again after the 2023 Finals, won 3-1 by the former.

Except that since this consecration, the Liberty has taken the upper hand over the Aces. The regular season record between the two teams? 3-0 for Sabrina Ionescu and her teammates, who finished with the best record in the league: 32 wins for 8 losses – the same as in 2023.

“They were the best team all season”, notes Becky Hammon Las Vegas coach. “They play like an angry team, with a lot of motivation. We've been doing the same thing lately and we've found our level again in the last three or four weeks. I don't think we're the same team that New York has seen this season.”

New York clearly has revenge to take on a Las Vegas team that is certainly less dominant than in 2023 but has only lost one match since August 28. “They are a much better team than last season. They are more powerful, they shoot better.”says Kelsey Plum on the Liberty.

“We have to focus on ourselves. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.”continues the point guard, two-time WNBA champion. “They kicked our butts three times this year. It's a new start. It's not a coincidence, they did what they had to do, that's why they got first place. It's going to be a hell of a fight.”

This time with home advantage for New York…
