WNBA Playoffs | Aces topple Gabby Williams' Storm

Zero. That's how many baskets the Storm scored in the 4th quarter of Game 1 of the series against the Aces! Gabby Williams' teammates only scored two small free throws in the final period, and they lost 78-67 to the two-time defending champions. Noelle Quinn's players had gotten off to the best start, limiting the Aces to 9 points after 10 minutes, and they led at the break, and again in the 4th quarter (65-64) before finishing the game on 0 of 13 shooting with six turnovers!

“We can't let the defending champions score 29 points at home” Storm coach regretsabout the 2nd quarter. “The first five minutes and the first two possessions, we have to be determined and focused. We can’t get too high or too low. The crowd here has the ability to take you out of the game after a 3-pointer. It’s about staying confident and staying in the plan that we’ve talked about the last two days.”

Gabby Williams Wasn't Enough

On the individual front, A'ja Wilson celebrated her MVP title with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. After her 1 of 8 in the first quarter, the three-time MVP reigned over the second half, with 15 points in the 3rd quarter. Alongside her, Tiffany Hayes finished with 20 points and 5 steals, while Chelsea Gray added 16 points and 7 assists.

On Seattle's side, the absence of pivot Ezi Magbegor weighs heavily in the paint, and the 16 points and 8 assists of Skylar Diggins-Smith and the 14 points and 8 rebounds of Gabby Williams were not enough.
