WNBA | A record first quarter for Marine Johannès and Liberty

Although it had just ended an eight-game losing streak, the Indiana Fever (6-16) quickly exploded (101-83) against the New York Liberty (16-5), the second-best WNBA team behind the Las Vegas Aces.

It’s that the New Yorkers broke a record in a quarter, scoring 44 points in the first quarter!

By making 15 of their first 18 baskets, including 6 3-point shots, the Liberty was at +27 (44-17) after 10 minutes, and was therefore able to manage the rest of the game, failing to break the record in a half.

The 500 point bar in the WNBA exceeded

Lacking rhythm since finding the Liberty in difficult circumstances, Marine Johannès had a very good match with 12 points at 4/7 from afar, plus 4 assists and 3 interceptions (but 4 ball losses).

What will help her to definitively launch her season, when she only has 40% shooting success this year, including 36% from distance and 67% in free throws, where she posted 46% last season, being the most skilful player behind the 3-point line (44%) among those who took at least 100 outside shots during the campaign?

With her 12 points against the Fever, Marine Johannès also passes the bar of 500 points scored in the WNBA.
