Wizards release Deni Avdija to Blazers for Malcolm Brogdon

He was thought to be part of the Wizards' rebuilding project, when he was extended last October for $55 million over four years. But Washington gave in Deni Avdija to the Blazers, to get their hands on Malcolm Brogdon and above all multiple Draft choices…

In the exchangethe Wizards thus recovered the 14th choice of the 2024 Draft, plus a first round of the 2029 Draft and two Draft choices in the second round.

At 23, Deni Avdija had been one of the Wizards' rare satisfactions this season, the Israeli exploding his averages to 14.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists on average, at 51% success including 37% from afar.

As he is also a good defender, Portland hopes that he can also balance its young group with Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe. As for Malcolm Brogdon, he could only be in transition on the Washington side, even if he obviously would not hurt the Wizards up front.

In any case, the Blazers are also saving on their “luxury tax” with this transfer.
