Soon an end of mandate for Mitchell Robinson with the Knicks? According to SportsNet New Yorkthe name of the New York pivot, one of the rare players drafted (36th choice in 2018) then extended by the franchise, emerges among the players likely to be transferred.
The Knicks would have discussed his situation with the Wizards, but we imagine that other teams could be interested in the pivot.
The fate of the latter is very much linked to the one who was only his replacement at the start of last season, Isaiah Hartenstein. But the serious ankle injury of the first, stuck in the infirmary after around thirty matches played, allowed the second to reveal himself.
Priority to Hartenstein?
By averaging 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the playoffs, the former Clippers player established himself as an indisputable starter. To the point of attracting the attention of other franchises in the league, starting with the Thunder who would be ready to offer him a very nice contract.
At best, New York can offer around $72 million over four years, or a salary of around $18 million per season. Or double the current salary ($9.2 million) of the “unprotected free agent”.
Before considering any move involving Mitchell Robinson (at a salary of $14 million next year), the Knicks would likely need to know the status of Isaiah Hartenstein, to have certainty of his commitment. Or the certainty of being able to turn to another pivot.
The name of Goga Bitadze is mentioned by the American media in the probable case where the Knicks do not manage to keep the two pivots mentioned above.
