In an early game where the two teams go blow for blow, the Heat is slightly ahead (15-14). But Miami can’t pull away, and Detroit takes the opportunity to gain confidence with a very good Killian Hayes in particular. The French, author of 6 points and 4 assists in the first quarter, allows the Pistons to take the lead at the end of it (29-26).
The Heat reacted well by starting the second quarter with a 9-2, which allowed them to regain the advantage (35-31). On a 3-point shot, Gabe Vincent gives Miami an 11-point lead (49-38). But, the Pistons cling, and reduce the gap. Erik Spoelstra’s men lead 52-47 at halftime.
Upon returning from the locker room, the two teams neutralized each other without making any real difference in the score (60-58). Under the leadership of James Wiseman, however, the Pistons take the lead against a rather disorderly Heat team (66-62). Eugene Omoruyi even scores a 3-point basket from the parking lot at the buzzer of the 3rd quarter to give Detroit a 7-point lead (81-74).
Miami, finally aware of the urgency of this match, began the last quarter with a 14-8 to return to just one point behind their opponent (89-88). On a 3-point basket, Killian Hayes gives the Pistons a 4-point lead five minutes from time (96-92) but Tyler Herro allows the Heat to regain the advantage after a long-distance shot (101-98). Detroit collapses completely late in the game, and Miami wins 112-100.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– Killian Hayes shone. Despite the defeat, the French showed himself with a very good double-double. Author of 13 points and 11 assists, he knew how to take responsibility by controlling the game and the tempo of the match. His vision of the game allowed him on several occasions to offer his teammates open shots.
– The Heat got hot. In difficulty for three quarters, Miami finally got out of it thanks to an excellent 4th quarter won 38-19. A precious victory given the classification which allows Erik Spoelstra’s men not only to consolidate their 7th place but also to get closer to 6th place in Brooklyn.
