Without forcing, the Warriors relaunch on the Washington side

Jonathan Kuminga opened the ball in Washington for the Warriors, before being joined by Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole. The Wizards then go 7-0, which Golden State will quickly erase with a 7-0 as well, in a balanced first quarter (25-23). The Californian replacements, including the returning Chris Paul, then took control and the gap increased to almost ten points. It doesn't hold up. The Wizards come back and as Stephen Curry is very discreet, nothing is done at the break (58-60).

As in their best years, it is in the third quarter that the Warriors will make the difference. Because opposite, like Jordan Poole, we miss shots and we lose balls. Klay Thompson finds the target from 3-point range several times. Thus, a 12-2 from Golden State allows a gap of more than twenty points (75-98).

All that remains is to conclude. The Washington players, however, will offer themselves a small reaction of pride in the first minutes of the last quarter.

Insufficient since Stephen Curry gets closer to the circle to finally score a few points and the Warriors' offensive rebounds do good to maintain the gap. It is therefore logical that Steve Kerr's men won (112-123) in the capital.

What you must remember

– Jordan Poole misses his match. It was expected, and it disappointed. Having just been sent back to the bench, Jordan Poole could shine in front of his former teammates. He was well on his way to doing so, with five quick points. But then he piled up the failures. Already shooting, with a 5/17 including a poor 2/8 at 3-pts. And in the game too, with 6 lost balls. He finished with 12 points, without having weighed in this meeting.

– The return of Chris Paul. Ideal recovery for the veteran leader with 9 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 interceptions. It was when he was on the field, alongside Klay Thompson, that the Warriors made the difference.

– Bilal Coulibaly forfeits. Hit in the pelvis after a nasty fall against the Cavaliers, the Wizards rookie is in treatment. Sunday evening, the Frenchman took off in transition, but he hit head-on with Max Strus, who played the transition hard.

– Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga make Stephen Curry forget. If he likes to shine on February 27, the 2024 vintage will not go down in history for Stephen Curry. The MVP of the 2022 Finals was very clumsy (6/21 shooting including 4/16 at 3-pts). Fortunately he came closer in the last act, to conclude his game with 18 points. The Warriors were able to count on a simple but effective Jonathan Kuminga and especially on a fiery Klay Thompson in the third quarter (13 points at 4/5 at 3-pts) to compensate for the average match of their superstar. The Congolese finished with 21 points at 10/13 on the shoot, the guard replacing with 25 points at 6/11 behind the arc.
