Without forcing, the Sixers correct the Nets

The second best team in the Eastern Conference held its place, as the Sixers clearly did not do well with the Netscrushed (121-99) on their floor by teammates of Joel Embiid (32 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists).

Well supported by Tyrese Maxey (25 points, 10 assists) and De’Anthony Melton (21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 interceptions), the 2023 MVP reigned quietly in the paint, as is often the case, in “only” 31 minutes. Proof that the players of Philadelphia did not have to strain their talent to take the measure of Brooklynyet carried by his spark Lonnie Walker coming off the bench (26 points, 6 rebounds).

A boost was enough for the Sixers to kill the match: a 20-5, achieved in the second quarter and which definitively sheltered Nick Nurse’s men, who appeared more and more serious, united and dominant in the game.

TO REMEMBER

Twenty minutes of suspense, not one more. Still in the lead in the middle of the second quarter, the Nets then took on water because of this 20-5 initiated at the end of the first half by the Joel Embiid – Tyrese Maxey – De’Anthony Melton triplet. From then on, the Sixers no longer looked in their rearview mirror, recording a maximum 27-point lead after the break. A simply perfect evening for Nick Nurse’s players, demonstrating collectively.

Joel Embiid exemplary leader, Tyrese Maxey and De’Anthony Melton perfect lieutenants. The only “downside” of the Sixers’ evening was that Joel Embiid did not end up with a triple-double. Other than that, everything worked for the reigning MVP, always very easy to punish from mid-range and near the rim or attract fouls and shots. A deterrent in defense, the Philadelphia pivot also received help from Tyrese Maxey and De’Anthony Melton, comfortable in exploiting the spaces created by “JoJo” or taking the game on their own, during his passages on the bench. A decisive trio to launch Philly towards victory (see 20-5).
