With the Rip City Remix, the Blazers go vintage

After recently announcing the creation of its G-League team, Portland formalized the name of this new entity on Monday, and it takes the name of “Rip City Remix”. After this formalization, only the Suns do not have a G-League team.

“It’s an exciting day for Rip City and the next chapter of the Trail Blazers” said Dewayne Hankins, Chief Commercial Officer. “We are excited to launch this team into the North Portland community, with a name and brand inspired by our fans, our culture and our region. Rip City Remix matches will be fun, family friendly, accessible, and we look forward to seeing you in the crowd next season.”.

The team will play at the University of Portland

The name of the franchise is a tribute to the era of the franchise’s birth, which dates back to the 1970s, and the logo, deliberately vintage, takes the form of a turntable.

Under coach Jim Moran, the team will make their G-League debut next season, playing their home matches at the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus.
